During my time out this morning I came across a Blue winged x Golden winged Warbler hybrid along the rail trail in Amherst. It overall looked like a typical Blue winged Warbler but had a golden wing patch. It sang both the usual two part Blue winged Warbler as well as an atypical three part song (recordings in the eBird list). This is why I always try to track down any Blue winged Warbler I hear to see if I can find a hybrid of some type. I have found lots of interesting hybrid combos over the years and I have a full Flickr album of them at the following link: Hybrid warblers and unusually plumaged warblers.
Besides the hybrid I had a total of 14 warbler species for the morning with no new species for the season...still waiting for the big influx.
