More new arrivals plus the first warbler capture on the camera at the water feature

Yellow rumped Warbler 'myrtle' and Chipping Sparrow, Home, Belchertown, MA, Apr 24, 2025

Migration conditions have continued to be great overall and the diversity of warblers continues to increase as new species arrive everyday.  Although other obligations have kept me from getting out as much as I would have liked I still have managed to get out birding a bit everyday and have had 13 species of warbler so far for the month with five of those in just the past two days.  Although the weather has turned rainy for today and cold and windy conditions forecast for tomorrow, the end of April should see a return of good migration conditions and I may end up with my highest warbler count for April ever if more early arrivals continue to show up although to do this I will have to find a lot more new arrivals to beat last year when I had an amazing twenty species!  I took a look at the last twenty years of records for me in April in the county and the number of species is highly variable (due primarily to the migration conditions for the last week or so of the month).  I have had as few as five species and as many as the twenty mentioned above.  The average for the last twenty years is 11.2 species.  After having multiple warbler species around the house I finally captured my first warbler species at the water feature a couple days ago with a Yellow rumped Warbler...hopefully the first of many for the year.
