Today started out foggy and rather cool and the activity was somewhat muted. I tried a few spots in Ware to start the day and had a smattering of four species of warbler. I also made a brief stop at Quabbin before heading home to check on things and pick up Wilson for his walk. We took a walk along the land trust trail in town and had a good showing of various warblers including my first Yellow Warbler of the season plus loads of Yellow rumped Warblers. I actually had seven species of warbler on just a half a mile of the trail (my highest total of the spring so far). Without my good camera with me I had to be content to view the various birds and get some recordings. I decided to return to the trail once I dropped Wilson back at the house and although I didn't relocate the Yellow Warbler I had even more Yellow rumped Warblers as the sun started showing itself. I scanned through loads of Yellow rumped Warblers (around seventy total) in search of other species and found a total of half a dozen species. It certainly felt and sounded like spring.
