I headed out on a sunny morning with the intention of catching up with warblers in the area and I started my morning at Skinner SP where I had some fantastic luck in tracking down the Cerulean Warblers that breed there.  I eventually had at least three singing males on my way to the summit and got some good looks as they actively fed in the trees that were just starting to leaf out.  The species is a tough one to get good photos of unless they happen to move past when you are at the summit parking lot and are looking into the tops of the trees on the steep slopes.  As I was walking down the road I was watching one of the warblers feeding and a chickadee came in and both birds flew down out of tree with one hooking back into a tree and the other landing on some rocks opposite me.  I expected the bird on the ground to be the chickadee but a quick look through the binoculars found it to be the Cerulean Warbler!  The bird hopped along the rocks, feeding as he moved around.  I have never had a Cerulean Warbler feeding on the ground before and I was really happy to have been there to see it and get some photos.  It really is a spectacular warbler.  After a few minutes on the ground it flew up and stayed high up in the oaks.  I then headed down the hill and then made a few other stops turning up more warbler (and other stuff)...more on the other warblers below.

Besides the Cerulean Warbler there were certainly other warblers showing today but the numbers still remain low overall although the diversity has started to increase.  I found my first Worm eating Warbler and Magnolia Warbler for the year this morning with a total of 18 species overall for the day, which is my highest total yet for the spring.

I captured my fourth species of warbler at the water feature today with the arrival of a Black and White Warbler.  I was actually sitting outside and heard a chip coming from the direction of the water feature and then saw the warbler there.  I hoped the camera would capture it and I was not disappointed.
