A slow, rainy, cold start to May

The cooler than normal conditions that plagued us for the end of April continued into early May and looks to stick around for a couple more days before the pattern finally breaks down and warmer, drier conditions return.  It has been slow for warblers to begin the month with many species that would usually start arriving in at least low numbers totally absent so far.  I expect there will be a huge influx of warblers at the very end of the week and especially over the weekend.  I had to work yesterday and after work today I dodged on and off heavy rain to try to find some warblers.  I have found just seven species so far for the month.  Fingers crossed for lots of stuff arriving once the migration conditions improve.
