Although it seems the Christmas Bird Count in Northampton turned up a large number of species, warblers were nearly non existent with the only one found being the one near the Hadley DPW...very odd as typically there are several Yellow rumped Warblers still kicking around in late December for the count plus the decent chance of another lingering species or two.  Perhaps some of the areas that typical get covered were inaccessible due to the recent snow but that seems somewhat unlikely as the snow was not extremely deep (around 8 inches on average).  I made a stop on Monday morning to see the Yellow rumped Warbler and found him without too much difficulty.  I checked a few more spots over the last several days trying to turn up warblers but all the areas I checked were devoid of warblers.  I certainly hope a few more wintering Yellow rumped Warblers turn up at some point as my chances of continuing my streak of a warbler in the county for every month will be slim otherwise.
