July has now come to an end and the month ended on a hot note (as much of the month did) with yet another heat wave. This July was one of the hottest I can ever remember and this was the case over a large expanse of the planet and likely to become the new norm as the planet continues to heat up. The month featured 24 species overall with 19 of those in Hampshire County alone (the other species were added early in the month during our trip to Canada). As expected the month featured lots of evidence of breeding success with adults carrying food to nests and young and a number of fledglings around. Post breeding dispersal was also taking place. Next month will feature a steady increase in migration as many species start moving south in numbers for the winter.
